2026 Fall Deer Hunt 

What an incredible weekend at our recent Coalfields Special Sportsmen and Hands of a Sportsman Hunt!

We were blessed to welcome five wonderful hunters—three from Buchanan County, one from Pike County, and one who traveled all the way from North Carolina!

Our weekend began Friday with a meet and greet, followed by an evening practice shoot as everyone prepared for the adventures ahead. Saturday morning, our hunters headed to their blinds with snack bags generously provided by Food City. By the end of the morning hunt, two hunters had successfully harvested a deer. Everyone then gathered for a wonderful lunch at Breaks Interstate Park, whose continued partnership with Coalfields Special Sportsmen means so much to our organization.

That afternoon, our hunters returned to the woods for the evening hunt, where two of the remaining three hunters were also successful. By the end of the weekend, six deer had been harvested!

As the sun went down, we gathered around the campfire, sharing stories, laughter, and memories from the day’s adventures. Those moments of fellowship are what make weekends like this so special.

While six deer were harvested, the true success of this weekend cannot be measured by the number of deer taken. It is measured in the smiles, friendships, opportunities, and memories made along the way.
